WE VOLUNTEER INDIVIDUALLY
Each active member commits to volunteering at a local charity. They choose according to their personal interests. For some it is working with children or the elderly, others share their time and talent in the areas of art or culture, literacy or mental health. In all, more than 50 non-profit organizations have relied on WRJSL members to help augment paid staff, assist with special projects or serve as members of their board of trustees.
WE VOLUNTEER AS A GROUP
As a part of our commitment to volunteerism, WRJSL members also participate as a group in special community service projects. In the past, we have worked together on promoting drug awareness and education through the "Red Ribbon" program, helping the United Way with its "Harvest for Hunger" campaign, compiling and delivering baskets to needy families, sorting clothes for Hope Chest, sanding and painting at the Mooreland Mansion on the grounds of Lakeland community College and hosting the soup kitchen at St. James Episcopal Church.
OUR VOLUNTEERING MAKES A DIFFERENCE
• "The Western Reserve Junior Service League has proven to be one of the most reliable and generous sources of support for Forbes House and its residents. We are so grateful for WRJSL's help in ensuring that Forbes House well serves the women and children of Lake County." (Ann Bergen, Forbes House Board Member)
• "WRJSL is an amazing organization that has touched so many parts of my life. Through WRJSL, I developed lifelong friendships and actively embraced the need for volunteering and fundraising. These, along with WRJSL experience in teamwork, goal setting and leadership, well-prepared me to offer assistance to other non-profit agencies." (Linda Dolce, WRJSL Past President and former President of Crossroads Board of Trustees)
• "The Western Reserve Junior Service League not only gives you the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, it is instrumental in the development of personal growth. Service League can open the doors to opportunities you may not otherwise know exist." (Jeanne Lipps, Executive Director Lake County Free Medical Clinic) Jeanne began her career at the Free Clinic as a WRJSL volunteer. |
