"My involvement in WRJSL sets an example of community service for my children. In fact it has become a family thing with us. My husband and children have enjoyed participating in many Service League events." (Joanne Filipski)
Western Reserve Junior Service League is a volunteer and fundraising organization of women, serving Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties since 1962.
New WRJSL members, called Provisionals, participate in training that educates them about the community-at-large and the organizations that need assistance. This initial experience helps them bond with the other new members to form relationships that will make their membership in WRJSL more meaningful.
Each of our Active members agrees to personally volunteer in the community. Actives also take part in all WRJSL projects and events. These members lead our organization by serving on or chairing our committees and they may also serve on our board and as our elected officers.
Transitional members, after having successfully completed a minimum of 5 years active service, choose to continue their involvement with a reduced time commitment. Attendance at the monthly meetings is encouraged and involvement in one fundraiser or one committee is required of these members.
Sustainers also have successfully completed a minimum of 5 years active service. At this level of membership, Sustainers pay dues and continue their support of our activities as their schedules allow. Many Sustainers choose to stay involved as our committee advisors. Our Sustainers' experience and input are a valued part of our organization.
Membership in WRJSL is a win-win proposition for the community and our members. Many area agencies are winners because of the woman-power and financial support we provide. Our members are winners because of their personal growth as helpers and leaders, and the many enduring friendships they make.
Annual dues are $50.00, except for Sustainers who pay $35.00. Other financial contributions, while appreciated, are voluntary.
If you are interested in sharing your talents, making a difference in the community, and developing new friendships, WRJSL may be the perfect place for you. Please give membership in our organization your serious consideration. Please complete the online membership application below or contact Ali Hughes, Admissions Chairman at ali_adinaro@yahoo.com. APPLICATION DEADLINE IS AUGUST 1.
The application fee is $25.00. Please make checks payable to WRSJL
